Bayern Munich advanced to the UEFA Champions League semi-finals after defeating Real Madrid 4–3 in a quarter-final second leg, securing a 6–4 aggregate victory at the Allianz Arena.

The match, played on April 15, produced a seven-goal contest marked by early drama and a late turnaround. Real Madrid took the lead within 34 seconds when Arda Güler capitalised on an error by goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. Bayern responded quickly, with Aleksandar Pavlović scoring a header in the sixth minute.

Madrid regained the advantage through Güler’s second goal, a free-kick, before Harry Kane equalised in the 38th minute, marking his 50th goal of the season. Kylian Mbappé restored Madrid’s lead just before half-time, giving the visitors a 3–2 advantage at the break.

The decisive moment came late in the match when Madrid were reduced to 10 players after Eduardo Camavinga received a second yellow card in the 86th minute. Bayern capitalised on the numerical advantage, with Luis Díaz equalising in the 89th minute before Michael Olise scored the winning goal in stoppage time.

Bayern manager Vincent Kompany said the result reflected his team’s resilience. He described the victory as one of significant emotional importance, citing the players’ response in the closing stages. Real Madrid coach Álvaro Arbeloa acknowledged the team’s performance but described the outcome as difficult, noting the impact of the late red card.

Kane said the match was a “special night” and highlighted the team’s patience during the second half, particularly after falling behind multiple times.

The result sends Bayern into the semi-finals, where they will face defending champions Paris Saint-Germain. The first leg is scheduled for April 28 at Parc des Princes in Paris, with the second leg set for May 6 at the Allianz Arena in Munich.

The match is likely to be remembered for its intensity and late drama, as Bayern overcame three separate deficits to secure progression in one of the tournament’s most closely contested ties this season.
